Skej vs Calendly: AI assistant or booking link?
Short answer: pick Skej if your meetings start in email threads, include groups, or involve people who won’t click a link. Pick Calendly if meetings start inbound or you need routing, payments and deep integrations. We make Skej, so Calendly’s strengths come first, and every claim links to the vendor’s own page.
How they differ
Calendly and Skej solve the same problem in opposite ways.
- Calendly gives you a link. The other person opens it and picks a time. It documents one-on-one, group, collective and round-robin booking links, with availability depending on the plan.
- Skej gives you an assistant. You cc it on an email, and it writes to the other person, proposes times, follows up, and sends the invite. It also has a booking link.
Pick Calendly if:
- Most of your meetings start inbound: website visitors, leads, clients booking you.
- You need routing, round robin, payments or deep CRM integrations.
- You want a capable free plan.
Pick Skej if:
- Most of your meetings start in email threads with people who won’t click a link.
- You often schedule group meetings by email.
- You want to move meetings by text or WhatsApp.
For sales and customer teams with inbound demand, Calendly is the better fit. For everyone who lives in email threads, Skej saves more back-and-forth.
Where Calendly is better
1. Routing and team scheduling.
- Teams plan. Round robin, routing forms that “screen invitees, and route leads,” and sending meetings to Salesforce (Calendly pricing).
- Enterprise. Routing by Salesforce lookup.
- Skej. Its site lists no routing forms, no round robin and no CRM sync.
2. More ways to meet.
- Event types. One-on-one, group, collective and round robin, plus meeting polls, single-use links and managed events (Calendly event types).
- Polls. Meeting polls are on every plan, including Free (Calendly meeting polls).
3. Payments and intake.
- Payments. Standard and up connect Stripe and PayPal (Calendly pricing). Calendly can also collect deposits and sell packages (Calendly payments).
- Intake questions. Each event type can ask up to 10 custom questions (Calendly help).
- Skej. Neither payments nor intake questions are on Skej’s site.
4. A better free plan for links.
- Calendly Free. One event type, one calendar, a customizable booking page, polls and the browser extension (Calendly pricing).
- Skej Free. One booking link, but “No usage of Skej assistants” (Skej plans help). If all you need is a free link, Calendly gives you more.
5. Apps, extensions and integrations.
- Apps and extensions. iOS and Android apps (Calendly mobile). Extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (Calendly extensions). An Outlook add-in on every plan (Calendly for Outlook).
- Integrations. A long integration directory (Calendly integrations).
- Skej. Its pricing page lists Google and Microsoft calendars, Zoom, Meet and Teams video. It lists no mobile app.
6. More security certifications and enterprise admin.
- Calendly. SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, CSA STAR, PCI and ISO/IEC 27001 (Calendly security). SSO is an optional add-on on Teams. Enterprise adds SAML SSO, SCIM, domain control, an audit log and a data deletion API (Calendly pricing).
- Skej. SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and CCPA (Skej trust), plus roles and admin approval on paid plans. Calendly’s list is longer.
7. Calendars and time zones.
- Calendars. Calendly supports Google, Office 365 or Outlook.com, and Exchange (Calendly calendars help). Skej supports Google and Microsoft calendars (Skej pricing) and doesn’t mention Exchange separately.
- Time zones. Calendly “detects your invitee’s time zone automatically” (Calendly time zones). Skej’s own quick start says to tell the assistant when people are in other time zones: “Otherwise, proposed times may work for you but inconvenience others” (Skej quick start). On time zones, Calendly’s link is the safer default.
8. Track record. Calendly says it is trusted by “over 20M professionals” (Calendly AI assistant). Many guests have used a Calendly link before, and that familiarity is worth something.
Where Skej is better
1. It writes to people for you.
- How it works. You cc an assistant (for example lexy@skej.com) on a thread. It proposes times, handles replies, follows up until the meeting is booked, and sends the invite (Skej). The guest never has to open a link.
- Calendly’s version. Callie does something similar on Plus plans, and Calendly labels it beta (Calendly AI assistant).
2. Group meetings by email.
- Calendly. Callie works “for one-on-one meetings only,” and Calendly recommends links for group scheduling (Calendly AI assistant, Callie how-to).
- Skej. It coordinates multi-person threads. For teammates who also use Skej, it books from everyone’s calendars without back-and-forth (Skej Autobook).
3. Text and WhatsApp. On paid plans you can text or WhatsApp Skej to move a meeting, cancel, check your day, or tell attendees you’re running late (Skej text and WhatsApp).
4. It books into other people’s Calendly links. When a contact sends you their Calendly link, Skej can read it and book. This only works for Calendly links, not other tools (Skej Calendly help).
5. A booking link that talks back. Guests on a Skej link can browse times, chat with the assistant, upload a screenshot of their calendar, or paste their own Calendly link to find mutual time (Skej booking link help).
6. Price for an AI assistant. Skej Pro, which includes the email assistant, is $15 per user per month on annual billing. Callie needs Calendly Standard Plus at $18 (Skej pricing, Calendly pricing). If you only want a link, Calendly Standard ($10) is cheaper than Skej Pro.
7. Scale. Skej has processed millions of meetings.

Callie checks with you before it bends your rules or changes a booked meeting. Within your normal availability it sends times and books on its own. Skej doesn’t have that check-in step for exceptions. If you want to approve every message before it goes out, neither product fits; Blockit lets you choose “review-everything” (Blockit).
Skej’s limits, in its own words
Skej publishes a “best practices and boundaries” page (Skej boundaries). The parts that matter for this comparison:
- Settings only change in settings. It “doesn’t modify scheduling preferences based on conversational requests.” Tell it “never book me on Fridays” by email and that applies only to that meeting.
- No prioritizing. It doesn’t prioritize contacts or bump lower-priority meetings. It asks you instead.
- The host must be on the thread. It acts only when the person it represents is included.
Can you use both?
Yes. Plenty of people would be best served by both:
- Calendly for inbound. Keep it on your website and in your signature, where strangers book you.
- An assistant for email threads. Use Skej, or Callie if you’re on a Plus plan, for warm intros and group threads where sending a link feels cold.
- Skej can book into the other person’s Calendly link when they send you one.

It depends on how your meetings start. Skej is better for email threads, group meetings by email and text or WhatsApp changes. Calendly is better for inbound booking, routing, payments, integrations and a free plan with polls.
Does Calendly have an AI assistant?
Yes. Callie is in beta on Standard Plus ($18 per seat per month on annual billing) and Teams Plus. It handles one-on-one meetings only. Skej’s email assistant is included in Pro at $15 per user per month on annual billing.
Can Skej book into someone’s Calendly link?
Yes. When a contact sends you a Calendly link, Skej reads the open times and books from your own calendar. It only works for Calendly links, not other booking tools.
Does Skej have a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan has one booking link but no assistant. New accounts get a 7-day Premium trial that ends after 7 days or 3 booked meetings.
